Introduction:
In my previous blog, I wrote how we
can get maximum output from Social Media. How important it is for a human being
to connect, socialize, and build relationships with other people for a living,
the current generation may not have fully realized. Undoubtedly, the 21st
century is the era of the digital world, globalization, artificial intelligence,
Algorithms, discoveries, inventions, and social media. Before the invention of
paper, humans used to express themselves by writing on stones, skins, and
various leaves. Mostly learning was in person.
1. 1. Development through ages:
Socrates did not write any book and his student Plato surprised the
world by writing dialogues of his teacher in his book “Republic”. Aristotle,
who studied at Plato's academy, taught Alexander the Great to be an emperor and
introduced the world to new sciences. The book, written in the name of “Politics”,
still provides guidelines in politics and social affairs. When an anonymous
Chinese person, Tsai Lun, discovered the paper, Gutenberg felt the need for a
printing press. In earlier times, drums and messengers were used for important
announcements and forewarning of enemy attacks. Jirga, gatherings, sittings,
rooms, and open fields were used. Fairs and events were waited for years.
Pigeons were used to carry messages.
2. 2. Rise of New Platforms:
In this way, Man was set on the steps of development, and on the basis of scientific progress, the telephone, radio, wireless, gramophone, television, computer, and internet took the responsibility of serving man and the welfare of humanity. For birthdays and greetings, cards were bought and sent from bookstores, letter writing, telegram, cinema, photography, and fax were common. A few decades ago, Yahoo Messenger and Hotmail Messenger were on the rise. Platforms like TikTok gained massive popularity, especially among younger demographics, with short-form video content.
3. Brief Content:
Stories on platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook became
increasingly popular. It is a fact that a person writes whatever he wants to
write on social media with great freedom and there is no one to stop him. In
other words, it can be said that he has a free space. The smartphone has
eliminated many things from our lives, today it is your watch, basic computer,
entertainment device, and calendar. Social media is the most important and
effective platform for education. It has overtaken print media, the same social
media (email) is used for correspondence. Candidate data is requested through
Google form for employment and online interviews are also possible.
4. Videos Ascendency:
Video content continued to dominate social media, with live
streaming gaining traction. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
enhanced their video features. Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Whatsapp Business,
Telegram, Viber, and line are used for Instant messaging and video sharing,
there are many groups on these platforms. Short videos and reels are liked.

5. Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Artificial Intelligence sites and apps have
become a common feature on the internet, enhancing user engagement and creativity.
OpenAI tools, ChatGPT, Bard, Adobe Firefly, and Bing are being used for content, videos, and
software.
6. Commerce and Affiliate Marketing:
Social media platforms integrated more e-commerce features;
allowing users to shop directly within the app. Instagram, Facebook, and
Pinterest, for example, introduced features like shoppable posts. Amazon,
Alibaba, daraz and many other companies are using affiliate programs.
7. Freelancing Market:
Freelancing is an emerging marketplace in the digital world. A freelancer is a
self-employed person who offers services to clients, and often to multiple
clients at a time.
Following are major Freelancing platforms.
➤Upwork
➤Fiverr
➤Toptal
➤Freelancer.com
➤Guru.com
➤People per hour.
8. Online Banking Facilities:
Paypal, Stripe, Payoneer, Skrill, Google Pay, wire transfer, and Debit/Credit
cards are used to facilitate freelancers. These are easy to use and security
measures like dual verification against online scams and fraud efforts. In some
cases, Jazzcash and Easypaisa can also be used.
9. Algorithm Advancements:
Platforms have adjusted their algorithms to prioritize content
based on user preferences, engagement, and relevance, affecting the reach of
organic content.
10. Privacy Concerns and
Protocols:
Increased concerns about user privacy led to discussions and
regulations, such as GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation) in Europe and CPRA(California Privacy Rights Act ) in
America, impacting how social media platforms handle user data.
11. Social Media Power:
Social media played a significant role in political and social
movements, with platforms being used for activism, awareness, and organizing
events. Satirical cartoons of political opponents, defamation of opponents
through Photoshop edited photos, false propaganda through articles based on
fabricated allegations, propaganda against opponents through edited videos,
etc, in favor of their party in various ways. In this way Public support is
sought.
12. Monetization for digital
creators:
Platforms introduced more features to help content creators
monetize their work, such as the YouTube Partner Program. Many bloggers and
Youtubers who use original and unique content have earned a lot.
13. Collaborative Content:
Collaborative features became popular, allowing users to create
content together, whether through shared live streams, collaborative posts, or
duets. There are different options available for this.
14. Positive Use of Social Media
Platforms:
Social media is a combination of good and bad. So it is our
responsibility to use it carefully. The decision is now up to you whether, by different
means we misuse it or by its positive use, we will beautify this world.
